CyberWorks' Li may alter role "next year"

Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX - Australasia, May 18, 2001

Richard Li says he may stand down as chief executive of Hong Kong telco, Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW) in 2002. Li said on 17 May 2001 that he may consider recruiting a managing director or chief executive to run the company from 2002, but insisted he would remain as chairman. Perhaps his decision may have been influenced by the fact that he reigns over a company whose stock has been the worst performer on the Hong Kong Hang Seng index over the past year, down 81%. PCCW also reported a loss in 2000 of $A886 million.
