Fine.

The thing is, we disagree on whether Ashcroft is breaking any rules. Maybe he's breaking past practice. I am aware of that principle, and of its limitations. (Hopefully, for example, Bush won't follow the Presidential past practice concern sexual relationships with interns. Just thought we needed a moment of levity in this discussion!)

But also, things change, and sometimes they should. Whether this is one of those times or not we probably disagree on.

Let me be clear. I wish Ashcroft weren't doing what he is. But I also am prepared to defend his right to do it if he chooses to and if it isn't breaking any rules.
