I agree with all nine of your points. Before you go off on some great adventure here, let me make a couple of points that may affect your quest. This discussion started when I posted, without comment, an article from the Post about Ashcroft and his morning sessions. In response to a comment from someone else, I make the statement that what Ashcroft is doing is "just not done." You asked me why not and I have tried to explain what is done and not done and why. In doing so, I have been wearing the hat of someone who has considerable front-line experience in this specific area. Occasionally I took off that hat and expressed a personal opinion, for example, that I think it would be a mistake for the civil service to return to the spoils system. But mostly I have been wearing the experiencer hat. You have been wearing your own personal hat throughout the discussion. It seems to me that you are so exercised by this issue that you aren't recognizing my two hats. So I am pointing them out to you. When I just agreed with your nine points, I was wearing my personal hat. I hope that this explanation will make you reconsider your argument with me and either focus it or drop it. If you have any more questions for me, please be clear on which hat you want me to wear when I answer them and interpret my responses in that context. Earlier, I ducked your question about why I would attend Ashcroft's sessions. I did so because I didn't think there was a snowball's chance in the proverbial place that you would understand where I was coming from. I still don't, but I'd like to get it on the record anyway. I would have attended because I'm a professional and it was my job to be there and to understand what was happening and to integrate that into my work products. Karen
