<<My point was that all gold commentary is completely polarized, good or bad.>>

We can blame human emotion. On one side with all the help from governments of the world, financial houses, mass media
the "new economy prophets" were portraying gold as "dead archaic relic", on the other shrinking group of believers of control mechanism in modern finances. And is not over yet, will be over when the same "prophets" will fall victim to the system they helped to create, start crying "mea culpa" and admit to all sins. The sooner they do this the better for them, since the toll of financial victims of their philosophy might get out of control. Masses will ask for blood. Not the gold investors or believers but masses since they are the ones to be left in cold. California energy crises but on monstrous scale.
