Perhaps you should check this page out before you start your ramblings on no basis. QCT had made revenues of more than $1B each year for 3 years and has been keeping about 30% profit. I fail to see your point about them not being able to sustain their R&D efforts or to make a profit.

And I would suspect that Classic Q would issue development contracts for specific ASICS and markets to Spinco on an ongoing basis.

You may not have noticed or perhaps don't remember, but Q's R&D expenses went up substantially last quarter. Why? Multi-mode development, naturally, but also a timing effort so that Spinco has a lower base of earnings per share to grow from after the spinoff. Spend on R&D now, show less earnings now, but watch them grow disproportionately later, after the expense has been made.

Slick. Bodes well for Spinco.

Not worried about the IPR; Q has a lot to go around.

Is Qualcomm going to remove current licensed IPR from it's licensee's.. and then tell them.. Oh! Sorry.. You don't have a license for that implementation (IPR) anymore.. We gave it to this company called Spinco.. So now you have to go to them and negociate a license to use the IPR that you already paid a license fee to us (ClassicQ) to use? Sorry!!!

No, no, no. As I understand the deal, any current licensee is licensed regardless of whether Spinco or QClassic ends up with which IPR. To do otherwise would be chicken----.
