It is true that what I sited were not bet the company situations. They were however, bet the market situations. Exiting the DRAM market was a consequence of the industry wide mistakes made with the 64-bit generation.

The closest Intel comes to a true bet the farm situation currently is building four 300mm wafer fabs using copper interconnects and 193nm lithography equipment, but with $12 billion in cash, even these will not cripple Intel if the anticipated performance gains a markets for their capacity do not emerge.
