Haim,

I can't imagine how to gauge the *local* unemployment statistics with any sense of finite accuracy.....the BLS states that less than a 1/3 of the unemployed population ever file for UI benefits, so I suppose one could gather their local state or county unemployment filings and extrapolate some "numbers"....as to how that would boil down to the local hardware store or mom & pop grocer, is a guess at best, I would think that the +/-33% could be applied...BLS also states that the statistics are gathered from a *survey* representing 1 in 1600 households in the US, so I would guess that by surveying, you would get private and public companies and numbers.........
