OT .... Lyons is more cynical than me ... lol

I would have written it this way ....

Today is that day we dream about .... as youngsters on that cracked asphalt court with the rim the older guys bent ... on those cold winter afternoons with darkness approaching. Without the jacket we promised Mom we wouldn't take off .... and tossed aside as soon as we reached the court.

Those cold winter afternoons when it is quiet, surreal .... not a person in sight but in our mind's eye, there are a million people watching ... a billion .... heck, everyone on this planet is watching. Olympic championship, NCAA championship, 7th and deciding playoff game ... we know we will be the hero .... make the winning shot ... hear the roar of the crowd ... we'll play over and over until we do.

These moments alone are what inspire us to seek greatness ... to know that we can do what nobody else can do .... if only for a moment .... a magical moment we will never forget. We may not seek our greatness in sports, perhaps medicine, teaching but we all learn that inside there is a magic to each and every one of us.

Today the Raptors and Sixers get to revisit those cold, blustery winter afternoons .... to be boys again .... it will be a moment none of them will forget. One will do what nobody else could do .. if only for that moment. For one it will truly be the most magical of moments!
