As I said, I sympathize with their plight. I wish more programmers and engineers were active politically against the program, though that's difficult when you can easily be blacklisted. I'm really proud though that I've never heard of a single incident of an H1-B being attacked in any way by an American who lost his job. With hundreds of thousands of H1-Bs coming in there has probably been something, but it must be rare. That's why it rankles when the program's supporters quickly label any opponent of H1-B as "racist." The ideological enthusiasts for the program are the most neanderthal of right-wingers IMO, e.g. The Wall Street Journal editorial board. They didn't get in touch their inner humanitarian until they realized what a great source of cheap labor immigrants could be. They're also very supportive of illegal immigration (though they're more discreet about expressing it now.) This is another group of highly exploitable workers, and again I don't blame the people, but those who make the rules that keep them coming - the negligible penalties against employers who hire them foremost. You are missing the point. Our professional programmers with degree in Computers and 10+ years of experience are not being employed any more. It is waste of talent and all these companies are hiring H1's only. I know of many talented software professional who cannot find anything and remember they know latest software & packages & will work for any money. This is a sorry state of affairs. If you have 10+ experience and US citizen nobody needs you in the private sector. IMHO.
