>>That's one of the explanations of the dollar strength. <<

Yes it is one ...

>>You say that the Fed and politicians will watch helplessly as the unemployment rate climbs into the double digits. I say: impossible <<

They will not just watch -- they will do all sorts of things -- what I am saying is that all the things they do will be ineffective. AG hasn't been sitting on his hands here. He has shot nearly half his wad (in rate cuts) already in the first inning ...

Let's not argue. Either you do or do not believe that credit creation has gotten way out of control and that certain consequences will result. U know where I am. I know where you are.

let's accumulate our observations over the next 6 - 18 months and see if either of us finds any reasons to adjust our expectations ...

apparently up until some time ago you expected some kind of adjustment yourself, but since it didn't come, now you have changed your expectations??

I just haven't changed mine yet ... I'm flexible and have been wrong many times in the past. I'll have no problem admitting I was wrong when the time comes, if that turns out to be the case ...

For the second time in three years, poker's ultimate championship rests in the hands of a European.

Seven hours into a marathon final session, Spaniard Carlos Mortensen snared a king-high straight on his final card Friday night to emerge victorious in the championship game of the World Series of Poker at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas. In addition to the gold bracelet of the champion, the 29-year-old poker pro from Madrid received a $1.5 million payday.

"Viva Espana!" Mortensen cried shortly after winning the final hand, holding stacks of $100 bills high above his head.

<many in this thread are forgetting that the USA is an extraordinarily endowed country in human and physical resources -- >

Yep, like plentiful and historically practically free land.

KyrosL, upon anecdotal information ten of thousands of high tech employees who arrived in the US on H1 visa are send back. Some I know were in the US for over 10 years. I think there will be a brain drain on US industry.

Those returning will start very vibrant companies in their home land.

There is no justification that a pound of tomatoes should be equal to a days work in other countries from were many high tech workers arrive.

Time will tell.
