...at GE. Plus the secular trend of IT taking larger shares of capex is still intact. The productivity payoff is still worth the investment.

On the service provider side attention turns to metro, and the players are loaded. The long-distance guys like AT&T, Worldcom, etc; the local Bell operating companies; and the electric utilities (who occupy rights of way to every structure).

Compare it to railroads. As the tracks get closer to the loading docks the boxcars require more and more switches.
