RE:"It won't really matter whether or not the chips count officially or not. It will be definitely detrimental to Intel in the long run to sell these X-box chips to Microsoft at such a low cost. Screwing Sony will have a cost and it won't be pretty."

Never underestimate the ability of an analyst to freak out on loss of market share and the words "price cut". In this case, the former.

Sonys loyalty to Intel is KAPUT. Agreed.

RE:"The line between game box and traditional computer blurs significantly once a hard drive and, more importantly a broadband connection is added. Microsoft will market the pee out of X-box this Christmas with very little attention going to selling PC software (XP Office) . All the attention of the media will go only to Gaming boxes during the critical 4th quarter of this year. I guess the 2nd and 3rd quarter will be ugly this year , but that's acceptable. Having the 4th quarter tank will unleash a very ugly chain of events. Winning short term by price wars isn't going to translate to long term gains anymore (even for Dell)."

Agreed...

RE:"It's time for both Intel and AMD to cut each other some slack!!!"

If Intel would just give up 30% on the market then everything would be fine...

They won't, AMD will invade more Intel space and Intel will cause a bloodbath. This will likely effect Intel more than AMd as Intel has by far, the most to lose.
AMD can already maintain stock price with low ASps...Intel won't be able to.
