Tick medication isn't infallible - they're meant to protect the dog from the ticks, but the ticks may still "hitch a ride" anyway. I should know, my dog is on tick medication too, but we still have to make sure we don't have ticks in the house, on the bed (the dog is allowed on the bed) and have to watch for ticks on her anyway. It is part of owning dogs that go out in the woods. And the dog doesn't need to have Lyme's disease, the tick just needs be a carrier and needs to hitch a ride on the dog and get to a human.

Not getting in the middle of this, just talking about dogs and ticks since I own dogs . . .
