Where did all the ST and short traders go?

For the SOX, the ST and MT trend is up, next resistance 50 points away at 750 (January top and 200DMA). Within the SOX, communications chip stocks are lagging, semi-equips are leading.

NVLS: having taken out the mid/late April tops, the trend is still up. I thought about shorting yesterday, but the continued strength keeps me on the sidelines. I don't see any resistance, until the stock hits alltime highs (high 60s). Amazing.

AMAT: This chart looks a lot less bullish. We haven't decisively taken out the April highs. AMAT is nowhere near its alltime highs, just at the 200DMA. Odd that NVLS is holding up so much better.

I'm still holding a few puts (in TXN and JNPR), but these are small positions. Mostly I am long and in cash, and I intend on staying that way for now. I will consider adding puts if the SOX hits 750 and stalls.
