Of course you don't tell everyone that visits, because almost all people can tolerate antibiotics--and therefore if they get lyme they can take enough antibiotics to get well. Even if it requires a couple of repeat courses.

If someone has a lifelong history of problems with antibiotics, and they make a point of it and therefore their obvious concern about lyme, which is an infection that requires a month of antibiotics in early stages and more in later, and you say nothing, then perhaps you have a problem.

But, as an addendum, come to think of it, it would be responsible of you as a host to tell them, in the spring and summer months when nymph ticks are abundant, to do a tick check when they get home--if indeed they've been in your yard or your woods. Especially if your dogs, or family or neighbors have gotten lyme. If not, perhaps your area is not high risk.

My thoughts exactly. I don't live in New England but I will have to question any potential houseguests extensively before allowing them to visit , since deer are rampant in my area and there is just no way I can take total responsibility for the behaviour of all the deer in my neighborhood. Heaven forbid that a houseguest should be responsible for their own limitations. And what if you served peanuts ???? There are some people that are allergic to those too... boggles the mind
