Tech investor alert....see WASH POST at www.washingtonpost.com today (busines section) for a few stories that give an inside look at what is happening in technology-laden Northern Virgina vis-a-vis commercial real estate.

If invested in REITS right now, I'd take my profits and leave. This industry is now turning on its proverbial dime and reflecting the state of the market as a whole.

This year, not so many suckers will get taken in the commercial real estate decline, because there is more caution after the recession of the early 1990s, but if you read the stories about the half-built buildings outside of Wash DC where construction has stopped in mid-stream and that suddenly have springtime weeds growing around them and suddenly have no tech-company tenants, you will be able to add one more bit of empirical information to your investment decision-making about the tech sector as a whole.

Actually, YESTERDAY's WASH POST biz section was also an eye-opener....several stories reveal that plenty of service-oriented firms are tightening up on hiring, they have a surplus of applications from needy jobseekers when they did not find enough "qualified" employees just several months ago, and they are being stiffed for millions of dollars by now-bankrupt clients.
