Actually this is a fine example of a useful 'connected product' but not in its current form. What's first needed is a home gateway which provides wireless broadband access throughout the home. Then you need a $2 chip in the frame to make the wireless link. Simple voice-based commands "Show me Jenny's birthday party" completes the 'picture' and you have a happy Grandma.

A picture frame with a big bulge on the back and a phoneline is an interesting science fair project but a non-starter in the consumer marketplace.

Give it five years. The home gateway lily pond must take off first.
