(Nasdaq:PTEC - news), the global leader in system software products for connecting digital devices, today announced its NoteBIOS(TM) 4.06 platformware will be available for notebook platforms incorporating the new AMD Athlon(TM) 4 processor, the mobile version of the award-winning AMD Athlon processor, and its associated chipsets.
The mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor and the new mobile AMD Duron processor each feature the innovative AMD PowerNow!(TM) technology, which provides up to 30 percent more battery life. When used in conjunction with the power management capabilities of NoteBIOS 4.06, customers can extend battery life even further.

About the Mobile AMD Athlon(TM) Processor
The mobile AMD Athlon processor features a lower power design for the notebook computer, 384 Kbytes of on-chip, full-speed cache (256KB of on-chip level (L2) cache and 128KB of on-chip level (L1) cache), and a fast x87 superscalar floating-point engine. Its x86-compatible, seventh-generation design includes a superpipelined, nine-issue superscalar microarchitecture optimized for high clock frequency); 3DNow!(TM) Professional technology with 52 new instructions designed to improve integer math calculations, data movement for Internet streaming, and DSP communications; and an advanced 200 MHz front-side bus, based on the Alpha(TM) EV6 bus protocol, that is specifically designed to complement the next evolution in memory technology, DDR (Double Data Rate) memory.
