FWIW, a friend of mine who worked for a small ISP told me that getting your DSL service from your local phone company was superior to an CLEC. The ILEC owns the switches, maintains the lines. The ILEC's look on the CLEC's as interlopers and do all they can to make life miserable for them and by extention, you.
Too bad really when the best service you get is from the local phone company. I got mine from Verizon and it smokes pretty good.
