CYBERKEN,

Are you one of those green swastika burning Rs who likes to bash environmentalists? How do you explain that to your kids or grandkids (making the sweeping assumption that you have reproduced)? Perhaps the conversation goes like this:

Yeah, honey, there used to be trees. However, we cut them all down and shipped them overseas to be milled (in the name of free trade) and then used the lumber to build giant second and third homes across this great land. After the President privatized the national park system, our family and all of the other wealthy donors to the President's campaign were given the right of first refusal to purchase allotments within the park system. Our family purchased a parcel in the middle of Yellowstone and has harnessed the geothermals for heat. Granted, one can't see the geysers blow any more b/c of all the houses using the water as heat, but we know what they used to look like. Yeah, all the animals are extinct, too. We were forced to shoot all the flesh-eating (Idaho governor's term) Grizzlies and wolves and the other animals died off shortly after the new developments went up through the park. Yeah honey, all of the waterfalls and west slope cut-throat trout have disappeared b/c the rivers have quickly licensed hydro-power projects on them (we need our cable TV in the "cabin" after all), and sure the strip mines aren't really that great to look like (but our CC&Rs keep them from mining too close to the "cabin"), but we sure are thankful for President Bush giving us the opportunity to enjoy part of this precious resource.

The "enviro-wackos" tend to recognize what "stewardship" means.

I find your comment "The enviro-whackos differ only in that they aren't selective" to be appalling. I'm actually hoping now that my assumption about your reproducing is incorrect.

Except them, of course. <<enviro-whackos differ in that they are a danger to ALL humans ... >>
