Paul, RE: Cisco-style write downs and Intel, You obviously haven't a clue as to how Intel has handled its acquisition charges, accounting, and reporting of such.

The vast majority of this year's Cisco write down was obsolete inventory, which had nothing to do with acquisition charges, accounting, and reporting of such. It was just poor planning. In theory, Intel is just as vulnerable as Cisco on this front.

I don't see this happening, though. This issue plays right into Intel's strengths (manufacturing control), whereas for Cisco it is a decided weakness.

It is something to monitor. Intel's inventory turns have gotten slower and slower over the past 4 quarters.
