Hi John,

Please keep in mind semi equip stocks bottomed in oct 00 and most of the Fiber Optic companies bottomed later in march april 01.

Just an observation that your rotation might be better time after a little move up in semi's.(like we're having now)

Bob

John,
Am sticking primarily with buy and hold strategy. What I am looking to do is reweighting sectors within tech as appropriate. As my amat position has grown in percentage terms, I have been thinking of rotating out of some. I expect higher prices for amat but bigger percentage gains in jdsu, glw, sunw etc. from these levels. I have not yet touched my amat holdings because I am comfortable with this stock over the long haul, more so than others.
One scheme withing chips i have been toying with is to buy two shares of intel for every 1 of amat i sell. The relationship between the two is not usually this far off and I believe intel earnings will be better after this quarter. There is some lag here between the big chips and the equipment cos. The more aggressive action would be to switch some amat into corning et al. Again when corning was 70+ in january, amat was 40 or so i believe. Now 58/22 the other way. Mike

PS I too am overwhelmed with the knowledge of some folks on this thread whether it be company specific or technical. I feel more comfortable looking at the large picture.
