Well, it's not as though he received as many votes, nationally, as did his opponent in the general election.

After all, more Americans voted for Gore than for Bush in the election. There are questions about Florida, there is no ambiguity nationally.

So why should the loser be taken seriously? It's not like he received more votes than his opponent in the election....
