Not true.

Back in January of '99, that was the case. Since then, inflation ex-energy has been continually rising. Thus far this year, ex-energy CPI is rising at an annualized rate of 3%. You have to go back to early 1995 to find core inflation growing at this high of a rate. And the most worrisome thing is that back in 1995 the rate was declining. Right now, the rate is rising.
