Peter Henderson, specialist for Fleet Meehan, just said on CNBC that there's a lot of bids underneath the market and that should halt any selling. Of course, he's referring to the NYSE. What's interesting is that here's a specialist who should know better. He should know that orders move in the direction of the book. Yet here he is, stating that those orders underneath will halt a sell-off when it is the orders below which encourage the down side action. Never underestimate how stupid or uninformed the "pros" are. The guy did tell you though where the market is going even though he doesn't believe it.
