Ali, so it does indeed hop back and forth with great rapidity to modulate the heating. That means it exits the mode and enters it again and again, so that comment about rebooting needed seems to be wrong.

Ali Chen, what's your take on the odd P4 Xeon linpack graph in anandtech.com , versus the nice smooth curve at what looks like similar performance levels in anandtech.com for the vanilla P4? Clock throttling doesn't seem right to me either, but it is weird.
