Hi JAPG,

I have Intersil and Atheros high in my list of potential licensees for W-OFDM.

I agree completely. It seems they're also best positioned to capitalize on the market trends that are forming. Atheros has developed a very high profile in a very short time and their newly established presence in Japan is telling, IMO. Their involvement in the early days of the OFDM Forum as T-Span Systems (type www.tspan.com in your browser) suggests they're on good terms with Wi-LAN, fwiw.

Intersil would make an awesome WLAN partner given their tight grip on the 802.11b Wi-Fi chipset market; the transition to 802.11g should be painless (based on statements from their presentations to the IEEE on OFDM where they state that an OFDM ASIC can be dropped right into their existing PRISM chipset for quick market delivery).

They are also stating on their site that a 5Ghz OFDM product will be available in the near future.

As you said, time will tell...

Best regards, Rob
