It is not a character issue, it is a cash flow issue. A huge demographic group will move from large net cash flow into retirement accounts to large net cash flow out.

Most people are not able to accumulate enough so that they can achieve both income from and growth of principal in their retirement nest egg. Their goal is to have an income as long as they need it.
