No, UMTS-WCDMA is not problem free, lots of MIPS needed,
asynchronous handover is tough.
(ref NEC boss and comment on handset becoming a base
station, one reason I like Tetra)

GPRS should be a piece of cake a soon as the software
guys get a grip on realtime infrastructure coding
and the middle managers leave them alone for some months.
(assuming the OS isn't as unpredicatable as Windoze)

EDGE, after that, is only a question of RF technology.

What worries me most in the case of Le Mans is the
NEC quote on operating systems, I wouldn't wish
anything like WinDoze on NEC... not even on Ericsson.
