Hutch,
If its over, why would CSFB buy Noranda's stock position in Newmont for C$260 million?

Seems like a big wager on the POG going up to me?

Gold Is Back - Investors
Return To Haven
Elizabeth Piper
5-21-1

LONDON (Reuters) - Gold was back in business on Monday, racing to 11-month highs after investors fled back to the once-loved safe haven of bullion buying, traders said.

Copper also forged higher but was overshadowed by gold's rally -- prompted by a series of U.S. interest rate cuts that had begun to raise fears of inflation.

Sugar futures soared to their highest level in just under seven months on speculative buying, while other soft commodities traded in London eased back on low volume.

>> By Friday, it's over. <<

It's not like we don't expect consolidation/corrections after a run like this. June options predict that NEM will stablize around 20, not that it'll go back to old lows. Based on your bearishness in the past I'm assuming you think it was another false rally. I still maintain it was the start of a new bull. By early/mid July we'll start the next leg up imho.

Still plenty of room to short NEM.
