Semi Equipment : North American-based manufacturers of
semiconductor equipment posted a book-to-bill ratio of 0.42 in April
2001 (SG Cowen had expected 0.60). This represented a sharp
decline from 0.59 in March (revised from 0.64). The CEO of SEMI
(which collects the data) said that the "the severity and depth of this
industry correction is unprecedented" and that the book/bill was the
lowest in the past decade.
