Dell in alliance to offer factory installed BEA software

SAN JOSE, Calif. , May 22 (Reuters) - Infrastructure software maker BEA Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:BEAS - news) on Tuesday said Dell Computer Corp. (Nasdaq:DELL - news) would offer factory installed BEA WebLogic application server in Dell PowerEdge server computers.

As part of Dell's Infrasturctur Accelerator initiative, Dell, the world's No. 1 personal computer maker, will bundle WebLogic to make the servers ready for companies to use for online business.

BEA's WebLogic application server is software that act as a type of plumbing to brings data that runs on back-office systems, such as databases, and transaction processing, to the front-end allowing customers to access the vital information and companies to present it to their clients and sales staff.

In addition, the application servers provides a foundation on which programmers build their applications.

Round Rock, Texas-based Dell also will provide tools that will simplify installing Ariba Inc. (Nasdaq:ARBA - news), Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) and Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq:VIGN - news) software used for online business transactions.
