"How many AMD Hamsters will be sold this year?"

How many bilions Intel thrown out in the Itanium hole? and it keeps going on, giving back no returns. SNAP will crush P4 long enough for the hamsters to flood this huge and slow born-to-sink ship. Who cares about future P4 low production costs, at the prices they are selling now, le mal est déjà fait.

According to surprisingly reliable Inquirer, Intel is still married to RAMBUS, and we have yet to see'em pushing brookdale as they should.

Of course, the clockspeed game could be tough until TBred, if NWood kicks in seriously as early as expected. But there won't be problems on the performance ring.

Paul, as a real Intel old timer, you wouldn't want to fess up to what Merced's original release date was supposed to be, would you? The Intel thread seems to think that since there were no public pronouncements before '97, it was never intended to ship before '99. I remember a talk from a P6 guy when the PPro first came out, he talked about Intel betting the company on the next generation every 3 years. The bet made in '94 seems to show that that particular statement was somewhat exaggerated. Of course, the P6 guys in general have plenty to be proud of, they're still carrying the company.
