Is he really eyeing Windows 2000 because NetWare is NOT providing him what he needs or just because he doesn't trust Novell? I think that would be a very important distinction for investors no matter how small or large the company may be.

I don't view installing Win2000 servers as a loss for Novell. Let's face it, in many companies there are MANY different systems running (mainframes, minis, NetWare, Unix and MSFT). You need to fill the needs with the BEST product available.

We use Windows 2000 Advanced Server in many areas to fill "needs" but the thought of dumping NDS for AD has not even seriously been considered if even spoken ever. Also, we run eDirectory on many of our Windows 2000 Adv. Servers as well :)
