Cisco went up yesterday because a couple of analysts (SSB and CSFB, I think) said they saw acceleration in their optical business and some big orders ready to ship.

FWIW, interest rates are allegedly the main drivers of bull markets, and I believe this is the biggest drop in short-term rates, on a percentage basis, in the history of the Fed (from 6% to 3.5% in 4 1/2 months, a 41.6% drop). So in that respect, the fundamentals are bullish. Corporate earnings are another matter, but they are a lagging indicator, I believe.
