I agree, rumors do a lot of harm but I am not sure if they can be stopped. I agree that there are always going to be a certain number of "rumors" out there at any one time, and nothing can be done about that. I think, however, that special attention should be paid when analysts repeat them and the stock market moves. Spreading false information to manipulate stock prices is still illegal...
