very interesting.......The index has just emerged from three consecutive closes below its 20-month moving average. This is the
first time this has happened since the Gulf War era of late 1990 when five monthly closes below this
trendline were booked. Even the correction of 1998 could only generate one monthly close below the
20-month.

The 1998 correction did, however, mark the end of the explosive rally that began in 1995 and set the index
in a nice 3-1/2 year uptrend. The NYA then entered a consolidation phase bounded by 550 and 681. We
are currently at the top of that range and just 19 points, or slightly less than three percent, from the
summit.


looking at the NYSE chart makes me think today that we could see another look at the lows of April.

I notice that the DJIA has made it back to it's early Sept 2000 levels
