One would think that ultimately, by running deficits every year for eons except 1969 and 2000, a prolonged downturn will occur caused by the massive buildup of public debt. So, no, I'm not in favor of this cut as I believe even this year we will not run a surplus, and it will be much worse in 2002. Frankly, if after 18 boom years we have just a single surplus year to show for it, that is, in my opinion, extremely pathetic and telling.

My own opinion is that the failure to pass the tax cut has exacerbated the downturn in the economy.

how can you say beyond 50% certainty that the hook of the proposed tax cut as a possibility has not done exactly the opposite?
