He did have his "youthful indiscretions", though. My recollection is they ended at about the same age as W's, 40 or so. I think it's one of those "family values" things. Then there's the statemanlike Newt, but that's another story. Amusingly, I just read a piece by Newt in a somewhat obscure source where he blamed California's energy problems on Gray Davis. Remembering who was governor when the incredibly botched energy deregulation bill got pushed through the California legislature is apparently somewhat beyond Newt's mammoth intellect.
