Darell - there is another possibility - perhaps your statements that DELL is not at war, now contradicted by the senior manager responsible for that war, were just wrong. Maybe the media was right about this, having been fed tidbits about the strategy. Maybe MSD is 100% behind this but has taken the more discrete position by letting his guys state the strong position.

Notice Vanderslice also says "Who knows what the endgame is, but when you're grabbing up market share like this, it's the chance of a lifetime."

One of my complaints about this strategy is that DELL has not articulated the endgame. Now we have a top guy saying they don't know the endgame. Disappointing.
