If Jesus' intention was to educate and not to silence, then he did a lousy job of it...

Matt 22:46
And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

Mitch! LMAO!

I think I shall leave this thread entirely in your hands! <ggg> That is one of the funniesy juxtapositions I've seen in ages. I'm off to work, but this will keep me laughing for hours!

There are two instances in the Gospels of Luke & "Mat the scribbler",
where Jesus is asked by the pharisees why it is that he and his disciples don't wash their hands before eating...

In one instance the person was simply inviting him into
and the others into his house to dine ...for his trouble
the pharisee gets a loud and vehement
tirade that lasts
for 20minutes....

this is the story of an enlightened Master ?

Loudly rebuking someone who invites you into
their home to eat , yelling at them
when they simply ask you would if you would
like to wash your hands ?

Jesus had something against washing his hands
before eating ? There was some lesson in this ?

...a very confusing portrait and patchworked
narrative that constantly rings of fiction ,
lapses of charactor , and liberal amounts
of discrepancies.

?

Not really, if the students aren't bright enough to handle advanced studies, that's hardly the teachers fault. However I think the real reason they were silent is that they were not trying to learn in the first place, they simply wanted to trap Jesus "testing Him", in order to use it against Him. Jesus simply turns the table on them saying in essence "I've answered your question, now let me ask you one". This had the effect of silencing them because they couldn't answer the question without acknowledging the deity of Messiah and by clear implication Jesus Himself. This was the total opposite of what they had intended so the easy way out was to just shut their mouths.
