That was Liberman's proposal as a credit against the social security contributions (I think he wanted $300, not 500).

Never had a chance with this administration when (1) one considers the campaign promise made by Bush and (2) one remembers what happened to Bush Sr when he worked with house democrats on the budget that had a tax increase. Everyone remembers read my lips but they forget Bush had to work with a democratic senate and house to have a budget passed and the democrats in turn crucified SR with this on re election bid.

If he backed off the underlying themes he'd never be re elected (not saying he will anyway).

The back end load serves a few purposes one being items can be killed without ever being enacted in later budgets, tax laws and "technical corrections", (don't laugh I've see it happen in technical corections). Another is some beneifts kick in right as he's running for reelection.

TQNT will take the Sox baton tomorrow and continue to pressure it down. Trading another 8% below the close in AH:

"TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT: news, msgs, alerts) cut its revenue and earnings estimates for the remaining three quarters of the year based on sustained weakness in bookings and customer order delays.

Triquint said it now expects second-quarter earnings of 3 cents a share on revenue of $60 million to $65 million,
according to figures cited during a monthly business update. Analysts surveyed by First Call/Thomson Financial
expected earnings of 11 cents a share on revenue of $71.5 million.

"I can not tell you whether or not we are in the bottom of the slowdown and I cautiously advise you to use this
forecast for the third quarter and fourth quarter," said Chairman, President and CEO Steven Sharp.

Gross margins are pegged at 35 percent for the second quarter. Triquint said it will update investors next month on
June 20. Actual second quarter results are expected on July 20. "
