I think it is dangerous to call Gingrich and Bush good solely by reference to the bad qualities of Clinton, Gore et al. If Bush and Gingrich are good, let it be based upon some more difficult standard than that.

If a weatherman makes a weather forecast that it's going to be 40 degrees and raining, and it turns out to be 80 degrees and sunny, does that make him a good weatherman merely because the guy that used to be the weatherman would have predicted a blizzard???

Let me add something else to your Gingrich statement and apply it to Bush, and see if you would still agree:

George W. Bush has never made a promise to the voters and then reneged on it.

Agree or disagree? I'm not asking about Clinton, he did that every day. I'm not asking about Gore, because he didn't get the chance. I'm asking about Bush, in your opinion. Has he made a promise and then reneged on it?

While I await your answer, I shall be reclining in my chair and eating a box of cookies to add to my third chin.
