Kevin
You make some good points. I don't think this group would be here today were it not for the Kim day's. I was sorry to see the way it ended in ashes there, but many of the good folks from there remain here. Kim's were not the only
picks in play. As you mentioned West and Mars2 were pretty strong.

Nice post, Kevin. Perhaps if "they" had all been as straightforward and up front with what they were doing back then as you are being now (instead of hiding and denying any IRC affiliation) it would not have raised such suspicion and acrimony amongst the rest of us "outsiders" who didn't get invited to join in the elite group of "good traders".

Whatever, I really have no desire to stir up any old hornets' nests but I didn't start this topic today and seeing some old faces here today reminded me of the "good ole days".

But I agree, let's bury the hatchet - just not in each others' back.

:+)

Cheers,
Mike

EDIT: I hold no ill feelings toward you, Kevin!

Kevin, this is my last post on the subject, I swear! <gg>

Here is a well thought out and intelligent response to Westpacific's PermaBEAR views (which have gotten quite old and tired, IMHO):

Message 15841368

It's hard to see any good individual stock calls through all his noise.

Mike

<<Which is why I have mixed feelings about Kim. After all, she attracted quite a bunch of talent>>

unfortunately, my talent lies probably more in picking noses than picking stocks ...

I've made money following Kim's work and also made money following Jenna's work. Also Options Jerry, Zeev Hed, stan, Kevin <SirRealist>, Tony, 2Mar$, Sharck, Rande, Jack, Mogul, WestPacific and many more...
If a call I follow goes against me, all I think about is how many times I've been wrong...
That's what I love about SI. When people are focused, an amazing amount of time can be saved by sharing pertinent information.
The soap opera stuff bores the heck out me. Such a waste of time holding grudges.

Just got home to see the discussion about Kim's thread. I have to admit I have a hard time harboring any ill will since I did get started short term trading on her thread. Those were mighty heady days, and I soon learned that if the right person put out a call, you just bought as quickly as possible and cashed out quickly. But I do look back on those days fondly. I used to post at least a dozen times a day back then, and still feel at home when I get a chance to visit here and see some of the "old" names. It's true her calls seemed to get pretty thin towards the end and I stopped playing them at all, but when she stopped posting, a bunch of us stayed around on that and other threads and we did quite well until the end of March when the bubble started to crumble. Even then, based on what I had learned in the previous 6 months I was able to keep my head above water for a few more months when I finally had to throw in the towel and return to a dreaded "regular job". It may sound corny, and I know a lot of you on this thread may not remember me, but I look back at starting on the Kimberly thread, and the ensuing months, as one of the most adventurous times of my life. Damn it was fun for awhile. Sitting in my den with one eye on the puter, and one on CNBC. Always liked the days when I made a killing early the most. As for Jenna's "Market Gems". FWIW, I did subscribe for awhile but never seemed to make any money off of it and soon gave it up. But it seemed some people did quite well so I have no negative vibes about her either. This post has gone on much too long, but it's still fun to read and post when I get a chance. I think there's a lot of us who'll be addicted to these boards for the rest of our lives.
