And it wouldn't matter if they didn't exist. Their writing is interesting, whether they were actual or fictional people. I don't care whether or not they actually existed. Can say the same thing about Jesus, come to that.

Actually you are wrong about completely denying the Bible any say in the matter. Even criminals are allowed to tell their side of the story. The fact is that you are special pleading, by doing this. The Bible can be verified in the area of historical claims. There are names and times and places that all testify to the veracity of the Biblical claims. Simon Greenleaf, a famous Law professor who wrote textbooks on legal evidence, says that the biblical writings cannot be discounted as eyewitness accounts, and should be treated as any other legal document. The question is, are the accounts reliable. The strength of your arguments lay in their silence, not very convincing. Your desperate attempt to silence the Biblical witness is very telling.

The Biblical claims, concerning Jesus are all well attested to both inside and out of the Bible. Are you trying to say Jesus never existed? If so you will not find much company among the vast majority of Scholars, liberal or conservative. You are left to explain the empty tomb, and moss won't grow on a rolling stone.
