i see what you mean now...let me put it this way: the transition to a new currency regime always involves lots of worries. the biggest worry of the European citizenry is that the taxman will swoop down on the savings it has managed to hide from him, and the former hard currency countries like Germany have their citizens worry about the potential for inflation the new currency will bring.

it is probably fair to say that the European authorities have proven extraordinarily inept in handling the transition...but that's no big surprise really, as ineptitude is a Brussels trademark. but i believe all those things are typical birth pangs...once the currency is in circulation, people will forget their former worries over it.

and the actual transition WILL go smoothly imo...i don't see why it shouldn't....
