My, Kasriel is sounding sensible (although his premise seems unlikely -g-):

Greenspan will return to the scene of his "irrational exuberance" crime this Thursday evening - the Economic Club of New York. With the yield curve having steepened dramatically (something Santomero mentioned today), with the yield spread between non-indexed Treasuries and inflation-indexed Treasuries having widened significantly since the end of last year, with commodity prices picking up, including gold, and with the broad monetary aggregates going to the moon, perhaps Easy Al is beginning to think that he should not continue to be as easy as he has been in the first five months of this year. Perhaps he thinks it is time to start weaning the markets from cheap credit. Perhaps Fed Presidents Stern, Santomero and McDonough have been sent on a mission from their supreme commander to soften up the beachhead for a Greenspan assault on Thursday evening. Something to think about, or write about, at least, on a slow news day.
