Close. Good question , though. First silicon may be close but will it be functional enough to demo? Would be rather embarassing if it didn't[post record SPECFP scores] as there would be little or no incentive to even look at it. Not necessarily true. The 64bit address space (or is it actually 46?) is an advantage worth using of DB apps and the TCCP scores may justify it as well. "2GHz P4s are expected next quarter" To shoot past Itanium on SpecFp and put Itanium in 3rd place. I think you mean 2nd place. EV68 won't be out next quarter. And I'm not making any claim about either P4 or Itanium scores on unreleased versions. Intel will relinquish the performance crown and it may be a year before they get it back again. Bookmark this one as I am laying it on the line and will have to eat major crow if wrong. No need to bookmark this one. You can speculate as well as I can. If we're wrong, is that so bad? EP
