IMHO, DELL should consider buying NTAP or the up and coming startup called BlueArc...

DELL still has A LOT to prove in the storage market...both of these firms seem to have some great technology and may benefit from DELL's BTO model and strong global distribution network.

Yet, like rudedog and others I am concerned that DELL is downsizing in a way that they will regret. I know of some talented folks who helped build DELL into a world class company who 'no longer seem to be needed' according to Mr. Vanderslice...I'm not so sure he was the best one for DELL to hire (IMO, it will be VERY difficult to replace Mort and Tom Meredith). It seems like the new hire from IBM who has a lot of power at DELL now doesn't have the appreciation for the softer side of management or diplomatic ways of communicating to all the stakeholders. DELL's human capital and unique culture are precious. I fear that the company may be making some mistakes that could be very detrimental....Just my views....Here's the view of a recent poster from Yahoo's DELL thread...

IMHO, the company would be MUCH BETTER OFF with the old management team back in the cockpit. It's not like Mort, Tom or some of the others need extra cash though <G>.

Oh well, maybe DELL will surprise me...For now, I'll watch from the sidelines.

Best Regards,

Scott
