"Having more money to start doesn't necessarily lead to better results," - Michael Dell

It bothers me that MD does not appear to realize that luck plays a large part in success too. I think a large part of the forcasting problems of the last few quarters comes from the leadership thinking that they were the cause of all good things. They were lucky, they have been lucky. The mark of a good leader is to take good fortune and run with it. The mark of a bad leader is to think that it all happened because they were so gifted and ready. Michael had been humble for many a year until he was worth about 30 billion or so, and then he thought it was all his doing and none was luck. Things haven't been the same since. It's time for him to write another book about being at the right place at the right time with an idea that works.
